The Lim family established a grocery store in Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, which subsequently evolved into Hock Choon Supermarket—one of Malaysia’s notable early supermarket operators. The business differentiated itself by pioneering the introduction of a broad range of imported products to the local market, including frozen foods, dairy, Japanese ingredients, wines, and baking essentials, catering to an increasingly international consumer base.
The Group marked its entry into the logistics sector with the establishment of World Commerce Freight System Sdn Bhd. Beginning with a lean team of three, the business progressively built core expertise in freight forwarding, multimodal transport, warehousing, and customs brokerage—laying the foundation for its integrated logistics platform.
Following its establishment, World Commerce Freight System Sdn Bhd experienced accelerated growth, scaling from a three-person team to a workforce of 75. The Company expanded its operational footprint across Kuala Lumpur and Port Klang, while establishing strategic relationships with major international carriers. It also broadened its service capabilities to include heavy lifting and exhibition logistics, strengthening its position as a comprehensive logistics solutions provider.
Hock Choon Group Sdn. Bhd. was incorporated in Malaysia as the parent holding entity, consolidating ownership of World Commerce Freight System Sdn Bhd and its subsidiaries. This marked a key milestone in formalising the Group’s corporate structure to support scalability and future growth.
Supiah Binti Abd. Rahman joins World Commerce Freight System Sdn Bhd in the sea freight operations team. A Kedah subsidiary is established, completing World Commerce Freight System Sdn Bhd’s five-location national network.
World Commerce Freight System Sdn Bhd expands its e‑commerce logistics capabilities and integrates directly with Malaysian Customs via EDI. The company has secured a government‑issued MTO license—one of only 10 active in Malaysia—and maintains a strategic relationship with the Royal Malaysian Air Force.
